For your information, the Adonis complex is a subtype of body dysmorphic disorder that primarily affects men characterized by an obsessive desire to attain a perfectly muscular physique. The term highlights the cultural and societal pressures on men to conform to a specific idealized body image, which can lead to significant psychological distress and can contribute to the development of mental problems and self destructive behavior.
After "No common measure" you could discover earlier this year on Morphosis (here), Prague-based Slovak artist Adam Pavlovčin aka Adonxs is back with a new track entitled "Ovrthnkr". You are invited to fill in the missing vowels. The promo video was directed by Jiří Horenský. It co-stars model Brett Oláh in a crop top and coveralls rolled on the hips. "This was truly one of the most challenging shoots and concepts so far", the singer explained. "I had a rollercoaster of emotions wearing a 30kg muscle suit and full face prosthetics. Simultaneously experiencing my own little Adonis complex by sweating my tits out and loosing weight while eternally realizing I don't actually need this body mass to be truly happy and at the end of the day dislike myself in this body image. Bottom line, this shoot didn't lead only to back and shoulder bruises, but became my little inner therapy".
