After a massive leap in stardom with his music video for "Evergreen" which has racked up 16m views and that you could discover on Morphosis last year (here), American singer Omar Apolonio Velasco aka Omar Apollo is now back with a new track entitled "Ice sippin". Bare and purgative, he wears his heart on his sleeve on a single that might be his most naked yet. Tending to his own fractured heart as he pleads for another's return home, he is forced to confront the truth that he may be the reason why they've fled. It's hard to pick yourself back up when you're slipping on ice, mirroring the deepening tunnel of growing heartbreak. Dealing with both heartbreak and rejection, this lead single from his forthcoming EP "Live for me" -set for release on October 6- is a poignant ballad inspired by him coming out to his family. "This song is a reflection and reaction of all the emotions I had to face before and after I decided to leave the icy streets of Indiana", he stated. The promo video was beautifully directed by Jason Sondock & Simon Davis of NYC-based duo Rubberband once again. The artist is also currently starring in the FW23 men's campaign for Spanish fashion house Loewe styled by Benjamin Bruno and shot by David Sims.
